O protetor solar é um tema pertinente nas escolas?

Abstract

O uso do protetor solar na escola é um assunto que dá ensejo a discussões envolvendo diversas áreas do conhecimento, sejam conteúdos disciplinares ou aspectos culturais, históricos e sociais relacionados à saúde. Frente a essas constatações fez-se o seguinte questionamento: o protetor solar é um tema pertinente nas escolas? Objetivando responder a essa pergunta, optou-se por direcionar a pesquisa deste trabalho ao conhecimento da opinião de docentes sobre o tema, de forma a descobrir o que eles pensam, conhecem e se o ensinam. A metodologia utilizada foi à abordagem qualitativa, de caráter exploratório e descritivo, envolvendo o uso de entrevistas gravadas em áudio, conduzidas por um questionário aplicado a professores da Região Metropolitana de Porto Alegre. Analisando os resultados, verificou-se que muitos condizem com os dados da literatura, onde se têm que o protetor é majoritariamente utilizado no verão, devido à associação com praia, ideia essa enfatizada por propagandas na televisão. Quase todos os docentes afirmaram abordar esse tema em sala de aula de forma indireta, através de comentários vinculados a algum conteúdo que lecionam. Metade dos entrevistados considera significativo tratar do assunto desde a infância, e acreditam que haverá uma maior sensibilização e conscientização, bem como a melhora na saúde, se o assunto for mais trabalhado nas escolas. Contudo, para tornar o processo mais eficaz, afirma-se necessária a participação dos pais e de outros setores da sociedade. Os resultados indicam também alguns pontos problemáticos, como o alto custo de aquisição de um protetor, sendo algo a se criticar, refletir e buscar uma possível solução. Frente a tudo isso, colhendo e comparando as respostas dos docentes, o presente trabalho conclui afirmativamente, que o protetor solar é um tema pertinente nas escolas.

The use of sunscreen in school is a subject that gives opportunity to discussions involving several areas of knowledge, them being disciplinary subjects or cultural aspects, historical and social related to health. Faced with these findings the following questioning was made: is sunscreen a relevant subject in schools? Viewing to answer this question, it was decided to direct the research of this work to the knowledge of the teacher’s opinion on the subject, in order to discover what they think, know and teach. The method used was the qualitative approach, of exploratory and descriptive feature, involving the use of interviews recorded in audio, conducted by a questionnaire applied to teachers of the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre. Analyzing the results, it was verified that many are in agreement with data found on the literature, where is established that sunscreen is most used during summer, due to the association with the beach, idea emphasized by advertisements in the television. Almost all the teachers said that they approach this subject in class in an indirect way, through comments related to some issue they teach. Half the interviewed consider important to treat the subject since the childhood and believe that there will be a larger awareness raising, as well as improved health, if the subject is further worked out in schools. The results also indicate some problematic points such as the high purchase cost of a sunscreen, being something to criticize, reflect and look for a possible solution. Ahead of all that, collecting and comparing the teachers’ answers, the present study concludes affirmatively that sunscreen is a pertinent theme in schools.
