A representação do viajante em crônicas da obra Um Brasileiro em Berlim, de João Ubaldo Ribeiro

Abstract

Este estudo tem como objetivo analisar a figura do viajante dentro de seis crônicas da obra Um Brasileiro em Berlim, de João Ubaldo Ribeiro, pesquisando questões culturais, de identidade e de linguagem presentes nos textos. As obras de literatura de viagem, como as crônicas mencionadas, trazem questões culturais, sociais, de identidade, estereótipos, utopias, que possibilitam ao leitor desenvolver o senso crítico, a curiosidade e refletir sobre a sua própria cultura e identidade. A base teórica que sustenta o estudo é de caráter interdisciplinar, abarcando autores como Zygmunt Bauman (2012), Roy Wagner (2017), Stuart Hall (2006), Patrick Charadeau (2009), Michel Onfray (2009), Renato Modernell (2011). Na pesquisa, o percurso metodológico é de natureza qualitativa/quantitativa e contempla revisão bibliográfica de teóricos voltados a reflexões sobre cultura, identidade, linguagem e literatura de viagem; e análise de conteúdo do corpus selecionado. As categorias elencadas durante a pesquisa são “Linguagem e identidade”, “Choque cultural” e “Estereótipos”. Os resultados obtidos demonstram que o registro do narrador oscila entre a figura do viajante e a do turista. Entretanto, predomina a figura do viajante, que conduz à subjetividade, convidando o leitor a expandir a consciência em relação ao eu, ao outro, ao mundo e aos contextos sociais onde está imerso.

This study aims to analyze the traveler representation within six chronicles of João Ubaldo Ribeiro's Um Brasileiro em Berlim, researching cultural, identity and language issues in the texts. Travel literature books such as the chronicles mentioned raise cultural, social, identity, stereotype, utopian issues that enable the reader to develop critical thinking, curiosity and reflect on their own culture and identity. The theoretical base that sustains the study is interdisciplinary feature, embracing authors as Zygmunt Bauman (2012), Roy Wagner (2017), Stuart Hall (2006), Patrick Charadeau (2009), Michel Onfray (2009), Renato Modernell (2011). In the present research, the methodological course is qualitative and quantitative; it includes a literature review of theorists focused on reflections on culture, identity, language and travel literature; and also the content analysis of the selected corpus. The categories listed during the research are “Language and Identity”, “Culture Shock” and “Stereotypes”. The results show that the narrator's record oscillates between thetraveler andthe tourist representation. However, the traveler representation predominates, which leads to subjectivity, inviting the reader to expand his/her consciousness in relation to the self, to the other, to the world and to social contexts where he/she is inserted.
