Curso de extensão a distância no IFRS: um estudo sobre o perfil da oferta, demandas, perspectivas e influência dos Massive Open Online (MOOC).

Abstract

O presente trabalho investiga a oferta de cursos de extensão a distância do IFRS e identifica a influência de determinadas características dos Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC). Analisa como este formato poderia potencializar e ampliar as ações de extensão da instituição, perspectivas, limitações e possibilidades desta combinação. De natureza exploratória e abordagem quali-quantitativa, realizou-se a revisão bibliográfica, análise documental e, através da coleta e análise de dados entre os anos de 2016 e 2018 obtidos junto à Coordenadoria de Educação a Distância (CEaD), buscou-se produzir os seguintes resultados e produtos: a) fornecer uma visão geral dos cursos de extensão a distância já ofertados à comunidade em geral, bem como características e resultados desta oferta; b) identificar o perfil e demandas dos estudantes vinculados à plataforma; c) demonstrar qual a normatização vigente na instituição para a oferta de cursos neste formato e apresentar um roteiro resumido de como promover ações nesta área, contemplando o fornecimento de certificados e conversão da oferta em recursos financeiros para os campi; d) fornecer dados que direcionem novas ações nesta área por parte dos campi do IFRS. Espera-se também que este trabalho amplie a divulgação do catálogo de cursos de extensão a distância disponível na plataforma da instituição, estimulando a participação da comunidade interna e externa: estudantes do IFRS buscando novos conhecimentos e recursos para o cumprimento de horas extracurriculares de seus cursos de formação, servidores (técnicos e docentes) buscando qualificação e fomentando a criação de novos objetos educacionais através de projetos de pesquisa e extensão. De maneira mais ampla, espera-se que o trabalho desenvolva novas perspectivas diante do tema e aprofunde a discussão sobre os desafios e potenciais do formato MOOC na oferta de cursos de extensão a distância, de maneira que a extensão do IFRS cumpra com efetividade seu papel de promover o relacionamento amplo e dialógico com a sociedade, indissociabilidade ensino-pesquisa-extensão e conheça melhor as demandas da comunidade onde atua.

This dissertation investigates the offer of online extension courses of the IFRS and identifies the influence of certain characteristics of the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC). It analyzes how this format could enhance and expand the institution's extension actions, perspectives, limitations and possibilities of this combination. Of exploratory nature and a qualitative-quantitative approach, a bibliographical review, a documentary analysis was carried out and, through the collection and analysis of data between the years 2016 and 2018 obtained from the Coordination of Distance Education (CEaD), we sought to produce the following results and products: a) provide an overview of the distance extension courses already offered to the community in general, as well the characteristics and results of this offer; b) identify the profile and demands of students linked to the platform; c) demonstrate the current regulations in the institution to offer courses in this format and present a summary of how to promote actions in this area, including the provision of certificates and the conversion of the offer into financial resources for the campuses; d) provide data that direct new actions in this area by IFRS campuses. It is also expected that this work will broaden the dissemination of the catalog of distance learning courses available on the institution's platform, stimulating the participation of the internal and external community: IFRS students seeking new knowledge and resources to fulfill extracurricular hours of their courses (technicians and teachers) seeking qualification and fostering the creation of new educational objects through research and extension projects. More broadly, is expected to develop new perspectives on the subject and deepen the discussion on the challenges and potential of the MOOC format in the provision of distance learning courses, so IFRS`s extension area could effectively fulfills its role to promote a broad and dialogical relationship with society, indissociability education-research-extension and better know the demands of the community where it operates.
