Educação na cidade: um estudo sobre as ações e relações educativas na Biblioteca Pública do Município de Osório

Abstract

Partindo de uma investigação teórica que problematiza a compreensão de educação, cidade e aspectos históricos acerca da constituição das bibliotecas públicas, buscou-se investigar o caráter educador da Biblioteca Pública Municipal Fernandes Bastos, na cidade de Osório. Considerando a educação como uma questão ampla e complexa, que acontece em várias instâncias e espaços, este estudo propõe uma reflexão acerca dos espaços não escolares de educação, que são locais, que envolvem socialização e aprendizagem para a vida. Visa-se analisar e mapear a biblioteca, as ações e os projetos nela desenvolvidos, através de visitas, observações e entrevistas semiestruturadas com as pessoas que vivenciam o espaço de estudo. As questões das entrevistas problematizam as compreensões sobre educação, sobre a cidade e sobre a Biblioteca. Os entrevistados foram pessoas tanto na condição de agentes educadores como de educandos, no intuito de conhecer melhor os objetivos pretendidos pela Biblioteca, a forma que atingem o público e como o mesmo entende este espaço. Dos resultados obtidos cabe destacar que cada frequentador se apropria do local a seu modo. Uns vão para ler, estudar, outros para ler jornais, se informar e participar dos eventos ali promovidos. O espaço é público, aconchegante e de acesso de todos. Estimula e promove ações para diferentes públicos, buscando oferecer educação aos cidadãos. Os teóricos que embasaram este estudo foram David Harvey, Hannah Arendt, Maria da Glória Gohn e Paulo Freire.

Starting from a theoretical investigation that problematizes the understanding of education, city and historical aspects about the constitution of the public libraries, it was investigated the educating character of the Municipal Public Library Fernandes Bastos, in the city of Osório. Considering education as a broad and complex issue that occurs in various instances and spaces, this study proposes a reflection on non-school spaces of education, which are local, involving socialization and learning for life. Map the library, the actions and the projects developed in it, through visits, observations and semi-structured interviews with the people who live the study space. The questions of the interviews problematize the understandings about education, about the city and about the Library. The interviewees were people both in the condition of educating agents and students, in order to better understand the objectives sought by the Library, the way they reach the public and how the same understands this space. From the results obtained it is important to emphasize that each visitor appropriates the place in his own way. Some go to read, to study, others to read newspapers, to inform themselves and to participate of the events promoted there. The space is public, cozy and accessible to all. It stimulates and promotes actions for different publics, seeking to offer education to citizens.
