O conhecimento de plantas medicinais da comunidade haitiana e seu uso em Bento Gonçalves, RS, Brasil

Abstract

Nesses últimos tempos da história da humanidade, percebe-se uma preocupação cada vez maior com a saúde. Assim o uso de plantas medicinais através da medicina popular tem se renovado, provocando interesse pelo conhecimento das características dos princípios ativos, seja na cura para aliviar dores, cuidar do bem- estar e tantas outras formas de utilização, entre vários povos, inclusive na comunidade haitiana em Bento Gonçalves. A falta de conhecimento da língua portuguesa pela comunidade haitiana de Bento Gonçalves cria barreiras linguísticas que podem acarretar problemas no uso de plantas medicinais, em especial quanto aos critérios de eficácia e de segurança. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo principal realizar um levantamento através de questionário e pesquisa sobre as plantas medicinais mais utilizadas pela comunidade haitiana em Bento Gonçalves para fins medicinais e terapêuticos, enfatizando a correlação destas espécies vegetais com suas respectivas propriedades curativas comprovadas cientificamente. Para a coleta dos dados, foram realizados 35 questionários, entrevistando a comunidade em vários bairros da cidade e através da internet, buscando saber o conhecimento e uso tradicional pelos entrevistados. Após, foram estabelecidas correlações entres as plantas e usos citados, divulgando através de folder e palestras os verdadeiros nomes científicos ou comuns dessas plantas na língua portuguesa, seus efeitos e formas de uso correto, a fim de não colocar em risco a saúde dessa comunidade e facilitar o acesso no mercado ou através de cultivos próprios.

In recent times in human history, the concern for better health has become increasingly apparent. Thus, the use of medicinal plants through popular medicine has been renewed, provoking interest in the knowledge of the characteristics of drugs originating from them and more, whether in healing, relieving pain, caring for well-being and many others, in various forms among various peoples, including the Haitian community in Bento Gonçalves. Due to the language barriers of the Haitian community who use medicinal plants in Bento Gonçalves, which must meet all the criteria for efficacy and safety, the lack of information in the Brazilian language can cause problems in their use. The main objective of this study was to carry out a questionnaire and survey on the medicinal plants most used by the Haitian community in Bento Gonçalves for medicinal and therapeutic purposes, emphasizing the correlation of these plant species with their respective scientifically proven healing properties. To collect the data, 35 questionnaires were carried out, interviewing the community in various neighborhoods of the city and via the internet, seeking to find out the knowledge and traditional use of these and then establish correlations between those mentioned, disseminating through folders and lectures the true scientific or common names of these in the Brazilian language, their effects and forms of correct use, in order not to put the health of this community at risk by facilitating access on the market or through their own cultivation.
